                            Bhimashankar trek is known to be one of the best treks in Sahyadri ranges, the region is densely forested and is gazette notified reserved forest. From Khandas, there are few trek routes towards Bhimashankar out of which the Ranshil Ghat is the most challenging. But also more beautiful especially in summers and winters as it has more trees, but in the rainy season, the trek can be a lot risky. If you have a prior trekking experience, the trek will not be much difficult for you and would even save a lot of time and walk as well to reach the top. This initially flat walk is followed by a long traverse and then a steep climb into the forest ending with a traverse. Once you reach the top, the view will take your breath away and you can also visit Nagaphani and from Shivalay you could go to Gupta Bhimashankar. In case you are lucky that day, you can spot Shekaru (flying squirrel).

The temple is located 50 km northwest of Khed near Pune in the heart of the Western Ghats and sits on a plateau that towers 850 m over the surrounding countryside. The rocky sides of this towering plateau are known as Bhimashankar’s walls. During monsoon, these majestic walls offer the views of lush green vegetation and many thundering waterfalls. Take the trekking trails that connects Bhimashankar to the sleepy hamlet of Khandas to enjoy these views. There are two established trekking trails, one is called &quot;Sidhi Ghat&quot; and the other is known as &quot;Ganesh Ghat&quot;. Though the trail of Ganesh Ghat is longer, it is less challenging and the views on this route are quite spectacular. This trail will take to through the views of Paddar Killa, Nagphani peak and the lush green fields and houses of Padarwadi village on to the west. The trek will finally end at Kamalaja temple.

This place is best to be visited in monsoon season. If you want to see the combination of adventure and spirituality, Bhimashankar is the best place to go.
