This sanctuary is also of great religious significance as it is host to 14 sacred groves. "Bhimashankar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga (so must visit) surrounded by jungle. You can not visit jungle and other beautiful places over there, without permission from Forest Dept. Those places are at upper Konkan. Should visit."

"Calm place away from hectic city life. Clean & Green. Trekkers heaven, you can climb to Bhimashankar via Karjat-Khandas & from there it is all the way uphill through thick forest, superb trekk. You can go to Bhorgiri from Bhimashankar through thickest forests a beautiful trekk you will remember forever. Don't miss to visit Nagphani point it is aewsome experience. Beware of monkeys while visiting Hanuman Tale. One request, Please keep the forest clean & don't make noise. Listen to the sound of forest. You will surely be happy to see giant squirrels, butterflies, colourful birds & may be a leopard as well. Do avail permission from forest department while exploring the wildlife sanctuary. Best season to visit September to November."
