Bhimashankar trek is known to be one of the best treks in Sahyadri ranges, the region is densely forested and is gazette notified reserved forest. From Khandas, there are few trek routes towards Bhimashankar out of which the Ranshil Ghat is the most challenging. But also more beautiful especially in summers and winters as it has more trees, but in the rainy season, the trek can be a lot risky.

If you have a prior trekking experience, the trek will not be much difficult for you and would even save a lot of time and walk as well to reach the top. This initially flat walk is followed by a long traverse and then a steep climb into the forest ending with a traverse. Once you reach the top, the view will take your breath away and you can also visit Nagaphani and from Shivalay you could go to Gupta Bhimashankar. In case you are lucky that day, you can spot Shekaru (flying squirrel).
