Kapaleeshwar Temple in Chennai

This temple is hidden in the back streets and you will need a taxi driver of some sort to take you here.
The area around the temple seems to attract a fair few cows, and is a bit odorous on a hot day.
Like most Jain temples it is resplendent with carvings that have been painted with a vibrant range of colours. The complex itself is large but it is the roof that steals the show. Opening hours are limited.

"Beautiful temple to visit in the evenings. On most days, there are groups singing bhajans or even full bands (?) performing devotional songs. The cool sea breeze and the peaceful ambience makes it one the top few ways to spend evenings in Chennai."

"There is lot to marvel at this age old temple other than being one of the most fascinating architectural acheivements of the dravidian era. The tower is said to be apparently raise upto 120ft and is being maintained in its glory."

"One of the best and the biggest temples in Chennai. This is usually crowded. There will always be some concerts or traditional dance programs during the evenings. Excellent place for meditation and prayers. Very powerful temple. "
