"Lord Shiva, known as Mahabaleshwar here, in the form of slightly elongated shape like the ear of a cow hence Gokarna. The temple is located right on the Western Coast of Arabian Sea. Other temples/places of importance are Lord Ganesh Mandir, Tamra Gouri Mandir, Koti Tirth. There are large number of small temples all around. It is an blissful experience visiting each of them while walking through the thickly tree covered precincts of Shri Gokarna. Many of them offer splendid view of Arabian Sea as a bonus. "
