Gopachal Parvat in Gwalior

Gopchal Parvat is a series of rock cut sculptures that have been carved from the mountain side which one can see whilst driving up the hill to Gwalior Fort. The first thing that strikes anyone is the enormity of the size of the carved structures and the sheer difficulty faced by the artisans and masons to achieve this magnificent feat in the 1400s during the reign of Tomar dynasty. You would be spellbound by these massive Jain carving on the mountain hillock. Some of the carving have been defaced during the Mughal occupation of Gwalior.
