Thiruvalluvar Statue in Kanyakumari

Located atop a separate island in the Indian peninsula is the imposing Thiruvallur Statue. It was built to commemorate the renowned Tamil saint and poet Thiruvallur who wrote thirukkural, the Sacred Couplets. It is a popular tourist spot accessible by ferry rides with the sea splashing against the boat and a scenic view of the vast waters beyond.

It has an enticing architecture with the design of the 3 tier pedestal corresponding to the 3 sections of thirukkural – Aram, Porul and Inbam. There are 140 steps in the mandapam for you to reach the foot of the statue. You can get a stunning view of the ocean with the sun glowing amidst the clouds.
