Vattakottai Fort

#Monument in Kanyakumari

Vattakotai means 'circular fort' in Tamil. A less known destination, few kilometers away from the city centre. It does offer a amazing panoramic view of the sea from the fort. It is the place where you would love to spend a calm evening.

"Around 5 kilometers from Kanyakumari beach, this is a must visit place for tourists. You can see the southern part of Western Ghats (probably where it ends) from here. The fort is expanding towards the sea giving a great view. Also, one can see the wind fields and the Kudamkulam nuclear plant in the distance from here. "

"Beautiful place having historical importance. One and only fort facing Bay of Bengal coast , once possessed by kerala rulers.(venad kingdom). Easy connectivity from vadassery (or you can get the same bus from sucheendram as well) Bus numbers 1A or 1G. Lot more buses are there. "
