Duke’s Nose earlier reckoned as Nagphani is a cliff at Khandala. The Cliff is pointed like a snakes pointed head portion or hood and hence the name Nagphani. The name Duke'S nose is derived as the cliff looked like the shape of the Duke. This is a marvelous picnic spot nearby Lonavala.
To reach the Duke’s nose, highly adventurous trekking spirit is essential and the view of the downhill plains from this point is mind boggling. Duke’s Nose or Nagphani appears almost inaccessible, but it is a surprisingly simple trek to reach the summit from the southern approach. Great views of Khandala and the surrounding Sahyadri peaks as well as amazing views of the Mumbai-Pune road and rail corridors are rewarded to the trekker. Duke’s Nose is a convenient day trip from either Mumbai or Pune and the trekking route starts also very conveniently near the Khandala. The nature’s beauty is at its best here.
