Located on the banks of Betwa river, Chattris is a set of magnificent royal tombs of the Maharajas, placed on a platform and supported by the pillars. These are memorials of the rulers of the Bundels and are laid down in a row of 14 along the beautiful banks of the Betwa River. It reflects a wonderful sight though to some it looks uncanny. The Chhatris of Orchha are the most melancholy ruins of the city in Madhya Pradesh.

The charm of Chattris is best experienced when it is viewed from a narrow bridge on the opposite side of the river, from where the entire reflection of the tombs can be seen. Each Chhatri is a little different in design. The structures are triple-storied. Four chambers make up a dome shaped covering surrounded by small cenotaphs resting on columns. The domes are adorned with exquisite paintings, which add to the alluring appeal of Chattris which has attracted tourists since years. It would be perfectly timed if you go by Sunset. It is a best place for history buff as well as photographers.
