The religious crowd also finds its interest in Pithoragarh because of the famous Dhwaj Temple. It is located at 2100 meters above the sea level. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Jayanti.
The devotees and enjoy the scenic beauty of the snow shrouded Himalayan peaks from the temple. Apart from being a religion spot, this place is also known to be home for snow leopards and Himalayan Black Bears. It is 10 km from Pithoragarh and it takes a 4 km long trek amidst dense forests to reach the temple which is at the top of the hill.
