In the proximity of the city is the Pithoragarh Fort which provides the spectacular views of the Kali Kumaon. Built by the Chand kings and reconstructed in year 1789 by the Gorkhas, this fort has some scenic landscapes and is an ideal location for honeymooners.
Even though Pithoragarh fort is covered with ruins, the place has an alluring captivity of the tourists. A board inside the fort will tell you the tale about 1005 men from the town who participated in the WWI. This fort is a must go place if you’re a history buff and a nature lover. In the vicinity of the fort is Ramlila grounds where community functions, particularly Ramlila staging is done. One can have a beautiful view of Pithoragarh town and entire Soar valley from the fort.
