This fort, at the outskirts of Pithoragarh town on a hilltop was constructed in 1789 by Gorkhas. Presently it houses the tehsil headquarters. Inside the fort there a plaque which says 1005 men from the town of Pithoragarh participated in the First World War of which 32 laid down their lives in the war. There is not much to see inside the fort except the ramparts as it houses tehsil buildings.
In the vicinity of the fort is Ramlila grounds where community functions, particularly Ramlila staging is done. One can have a beautiful view of Pithoragarh town and entire Soar valley from the fort.
