Aga Khan Palace in Pune

The Aga Khan Palace was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in Pune, India. Built in 1892, it is one of the biggest landmarks in Indian history. The palace was an act of charity by the Sultan who wanted to help the poor in the neighbouring areas of Pune, who were drastically hit by famine. Gandhi spent almost 2 years in the Aga Khan Palace in internment. Today there is a small but fine museum detailing his struggle and his time in Pune. It is also the place where Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai died

"Must visit tourist location in Pune, especially if you like a serene campus with a touch of Indian history, related to independence. many articles /items used by Mahathma Gandhi (was in house arrest here) are kept in the museum. Kastuba Gandhi resting in peace here. Good parking, right next to the main Nagar road. "
