Shaniwar Wada

#Monument in Pune

The remains of this fortressed palace of the Peshwa rulers are located in the old part of the city. Built in 1732, Shaniwar Wada was destroyed in a fire in 1828, but the massive walls and ramparts remain, as does a mighty fortified gateway. Once there lived about 1,000 people in its buildings. In the evenings, there’s a 45-minute sound-and-light show ( at 8.30pm IST; ₹25) though a minimum of 10 people is needed for the show to commence.
