Maenam Hill Trek
Ravangla-Maenam Hill Trek is one of the very few treks in the north – eastern region which rise to a height of around 10, 600 ft from the sea level of around 8000 ft in less than 5 hours. The entire trek passes through dense forests and huge canopies of oak, hemlock and subalpine rhododendrons occupying the majority of the trail and running parallel to the length of the trail. The amazing diversity in the entire flora of the region is a sight to behold. Being a national wild life sanctuary, a permit is required for trekking. The permit is easily available in Ravangla along with a guide for the trek. The guide is a local villager who also holds a good amount of knowledge of the edible and non edible fruits and berries along the way.
