Meditation - Finding Inner Peace
Meditation is an activity in which the practitioner just sits and allows the mind to dissolve. In Art of Living, meditation is a simplified activity which can easily be practiced by all. Meditation is not concentration. It is de-concentration. The rest in meditation is deeper than the deepest sleep that you can ever have. When the mind becomes free from agitation, is calm and serene and at peace, meditation happens. You can perform meditation in any calm place. However, the best ashrams to find your inner peace would be Patanjali International Yoga Foundation and Anand Prakash Ashram.
Garud Chatti Falls
Garud Chatti waterfall is a wonderful spot in the town which should be visited at any cost. This photogenic place attracts foreigners as well as Indian tourists because of its seven different water flowing points. Nature have flaunted its exceptionally unique side through Garud Chatti Falls. The waterfall is situated at Neelkanth road near about 5 km from Laxman Jhula.
Lakshman Jhula, the famous hanging bridge over River Ganga. It is 450 feet long and is situated at a height of 70 feet from the river. As per mythological tales, once Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama, crossed river Ganga at the same site where the bridge now stands. At that time, there was only a suspension bridge, made of jute. After this incident, the bridge came to be known as ‘Lakshman Jhula’. With time, the jute bridge eroded and a new iron bridge was built along the same path in 1939. Lakshman Jhula is actually an adjoining bridge across the Ganga, along the old route to the holy shrines of Badrinath and Kedarnath. The bridge has now become one of the most visited tourist spots of Rishikesh, not simply because of its ancient origin and religious sanctity, but also because of the grand temples and wonderful local market that have come to be developed around it. A thirteen storey temple, called Terah Manzil, near the Lakshman Jhula, is very popular amongst visitors. The top floor of this temple gives a wonderful view of the surroundings.

Things to eat in Rishikesh
Banana Curry at Ayurpak
Ayurpak has nice ambience and feels more like eating at someone's home than in a restaurant (perhaps because it is their home). It has a lovely enclosed courtyard with outside (but covered) seating. The food i.e. The Banana Curry is a must try really healthy ayurvedic Indian food. After meditation the dish is just perfect to enjoy.
Moong Dal Pancakes at Ayurpak
The family who owns this place are lovely and they serve food with a little more generosity, the woman who runs it is delightful! The food is beautiful, the amazing moong dal pancakes with apple jam or without it tastes like an international cuisine. The room and ambience is very homely and they provide great value for money.
Dal Makhni at Bistro Nirvana
It's nestled in a quiet place in rishikesh. The ambience of the restaurant is great and the food served there is simply mouth watering. The dish that stands out of all is Dal Makhni with butter roti. Dal Makhni is loved almost by every Indian, even foreign tourists like this dish as well. Probably the best in town. The place is clean and the staff is very courteous. Overall a must eat food if you are in Rishikesh.
Sweet Nutella Naan
This place gives you surprise from the moment you enter the place. The unique food, soothing music and the view could let you spend hours here. The uniqueness of the cafe can be seen from their Nutella Naan. The chewy soft naan made interesting putting Nutella on top of it. It will be a little more crowded even at the oddest hour of the offseason.
Life of any breakfast or a short munching session, Samosa is a deep fried snack that is stuffed with chatpata potato stuffing. Tastes amazing with a cup of coffee or chai (tea), it can be found at every nook and corner of the town. However, some spots try to out it and stuff it with different and interesting stuffings such as mango, apple, or even chocolate. One such place is The Office. This place also treats you with another specialty of theirs which is masala chai. Also try out samosas at The Rajasthani Restaurant situated near Triveni Ghat.
