India Institute of Advanced Study
Indian Institute of Advanced Study is a residential center for higher education is located on Observatory hills- one of the seven hills of Shimla. IIAS was originally built as the home for Lord Duffein. The Much historic decision has been taken here. After Independence, it was renamed as "Rashtrapati Nivas” and was used by President of India as the summer retreat.
It was later converted into a research center for Indian culture, religion, humanities, social and natural sciences.
The beauty of the building is captivating and is quaint. Use of gray stone and exotic Burmese teak gives this place a beautiful look that mesmerizes viewers at a first look. You will also find a garden and museum in the campus. This is a perfect place for the photo enthusiast. This historical building provides ideal settings for photography. The place has also attracted many Bollywood filmmakers and the hit released in 2005 - movie BLACK was shot at IIAS. The place is worth visiting.
