Why travel Stok?

Stok is the base camp for the adventure lovers as it serve as the gateway to many higher altitude trekking trails in the Ladakh Himalayan Range. The hilly village near Leh city is surrounded by a number of ranges such as Stok Kangri range, Markha and Indus valleys, Stok is a visual treat for photographers.

You can view the whole village in panorama view from the Monastery. Stok was the erstwhile seat of the Ladakhi royal family. The Stok Palace was built about 200 years ago by King Tsepal Tondup Namgyal after Sikh general Zorawar Singh’s invasion of Leh.

Stok palace built by king Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825, in the present times is the residential palace of the royal descendants of King Sengge Namgyal. The palace is located around 15 kms away from the main city of Leh. Palace has been turned as a museum and entry fee of around 50 Rupees per person is charged. Palace has kept all piece of belongings from Past- like utensils, books, arms, royal clothing etc. This property has beautiful garden as well, which gives a beautiful view.
