Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Trichy in Tiruchirappalli

The temple of Sri Ranganathaswamy at Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli boasts an historic past of great kingdom and a civilization thousands of years old. The reign of the Pallavas was marked by the creation of a solid religious foundation, for example the encouragement given by the dynasty appears to have contributed to the growth of Aryan institutions in Southern India more particularly in the Carnatic. Cholas reigned for about three hundred years over the Coromandel Coast and the greater part of Eastern Deccan, where they helped an advanced Hindu Culture to flourish.

"Must read for FOREIGNERS Sorry for low rating... This rating is for the management and not for the temple. (Though it is administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the TN govt.) No proper queue control, roof for visitors. They collect enormous amount from foreigners and they are stopped at the entrance. The visitors (including foreigners) are treated like cattle's with no respect. This kinda of hospitality to foreigners is awful. We Indians built Hindu temple in US/UK. But when foreign people come here, this stupid staffs are interested only in making money and cheating foreigners. Is this the incredible India? Shame on you religious boards!!"

"The first of all 108 divya shetras of Lord Vishnu. The vigraha has come directly from Vaikuntam to Suryalogam and from there to Ayodhya. From Ayothya it was brought by Vibishana and installed in Sree Rangam. Every one must make at least one visit in lifetime without fail."
