Ancient Bhartrihari Caves

The Ancient Bhartrihari Caves are located on the bank of River Shipra, near to the Gadkalika temple. There is a conventional belief that at this very spot, Bhartrihari, who is known as the progression sibling of Vikramaditya, lived and ruminated before spurning common delights. These underground caves are one of the excellent places to visit in Ujjain. The caves are famous for deep down caves of Gopinath Ji. Not to mention there is a lot of humidity and suffocation in there so do wait for the crowd to disperse.

Kal Bhairav Temple at Ujjain

Kal Bhairav Temple

Kal Bhairav is a gatekeeper of lord Shiva and worshipped by Hindus. Temple is located on the banks of the River Kshipra that is dedicated to the worship of Kal Bhairav, the chief of the eight Bhairavas (Lord Shiva) described in Saivite tradition. It is famous for the fact that liquor is offered to the temple deity as one of the five tantric ritual offerings known as panchamakara - madya (alcohol), maansa (meat) and others. In older times, all five offerings were made to the deity, but now only alcohol is offered and the other four offerings are in form of symbolic rituals.
