#Temple in Varanasi

The popular Varanasi Ganga Aarti, ceremony is performed by Brahmin priests in the evening. This is the place where science and religion come to an end where human emotions and beliefs are supreme. The sight of thousands of people coming here to offer respects, perform pujas and float candles in small cups is mesmerizing. Ganga Aarti takes place at 7 PM in the evening after the sunset for around 45 minutes at Dashashwamedh ghat in Varanasi near the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

This beautiful ritual makes every moment of the evening period special and fills with the spiritual thoughts. It is performed by the brass lamps with snake hood, full of camphor or kaphur, the burning of kaphur generates big flames out from the lamps and when the priests wave and circle them identically, it mesmerizes everyone. It is accompanied with Mantra Chant in the presence of huge crowd. At the end of the ceremony priests go to the river bank and pour the water in the river while chanting the ritual hymns. This marks the end of the closing ceremony.
