Maharajbagh Zoo
Maharajbagh Zoo was built by the Bhonsle kings; the enticing park was later renovated into a botanical garden and zoo which houses rare species of flora and fauna. The Maharajbagh Zoo is located in Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth in the heart of Nagpur city. It is the central zoo of the city and also a place frequented by families, children, and visitors. This popular zoo has been built on the gardens of Bhonsle and Maratha rulers of Nagpur. Central Zoo Authority (CZA) of India and Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PKV) of Nagpur hold the administration of the zoo. The zoo is home to many animal varieties including lions, tigers, leopards, deer, peacocks, etc. You can still have a nice picnic at the zoo while being close to nature. For children, it is fascinating to see wildlife so closely. A garden here, termed as the Maharajbagh has been converted into a botanical garden with a rich collection of herbs, shrubs, ornamental and aromatic plants, etc. Nature enthusiast will most definitely love this place.
