WHICH IS THE BEST TIME TO DO THE TREK?

The best time to access this heavenly experience is from mid-June to mid-October. From the month of June to August, there are high chances of presence of heavy snow on the passes and rainfall in the nearby regions.

From September to October, the trekking trail gets cleared off from snow and weather becomes more pleasurable.

TRAVEL ITINERARY

 A.) REACHING THE STARTING POINT- JOGINDERNAGAR

Jogindernagar is a beautiful city located in Himachal Pradesh. Located in the middle of Jogindernagar valley, the region is known for adventure sports like Paragliding, Trekking and also for sightseeing. Jogindernagar will serve as our starting point, from where we will start this beautiful journey together. Now, let’s have a look at how we can reach Jogindernagar-

 

                

THE BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE OF ‘JOGINDERNAGAR’

BY AIR-

There is no airport in Jogindernagar. However, Bhuntar Airport (in Kullu,HP) is 31 km away. And Gaggal Aiport (in Dharamshala,HP) is 53 km away. This one has a better connectivity with all the major cities of the country. After reaching the preferred airport, a taxi can be hired to reach Jogindernagar.

 

BY TRAIN-

Jogindernagar railway station does not have much connectivity with major cities of India so one has to look out for the nearest station. The nearest railway station is Una Himachal (UHL) station located in Una, HP. It’s 76 km away from Jogindernagar.

 

BY ROAD-

Jogindernagar is well connected to major cities by road. It is 55 km away from Mandi, 152 km from Pathankot, 223 from Chandigarh, 272 km from Ambala and 499 km from Delhi.

 

    B.)  THE TREK BEGINS

DAY 1: JOGINDERNAGAR-BAROT

After arriving in Jogindernagar, the journey to trek will begin! We will move towards Barot. This will be a 151 km drive. This location will also serve as our base camp for Thamsar Pass Trek. Here, the interested candidates can indulge in activities like rock climbing, rappelling and to get the authentic feel, we can also go for village walks. The day will be spent in adventure activities and as the night arrives, we will set a bonfire near our camping site. With light music and chill in the weather, you will be able to recharge your energies. And this adventurous day will end under a sky full of stars.

 

DAY 2: BADAGRAN-PLACHAK (8530 FEET)

After enjoying our breakfast, we will embark on the journey further. We will start moving towards Badagran village and this short trail will lead us to the scenic beauty of Rajgundha village. Here, one gets to witness and admire the old Himalayan style wooden houses and can also interact with the sweet locales. One simply gets awestruck by the mesmerising landscapes of this village area. Further, the trek will proceed towards Plachak, known for its lush green landscapes along the river. The night will be spent here in the lap of nature. We will set up our tents near the riverside and enjoy this day away from the anxieties and pressures of our daily life. Soak the divinity of this place and carry it, wherever you go!

               

A DAY IN THE LAP OF NATURE!

 

DAY 3:PLACHAK-PANHARTU (10826 FEET)

Day 3 trek is of moderate ascent but will be once in a lifetime experience! The adventure seeking junkies will get to walk on the glaciers and snow and then cross the waterfall at Guhardi to reach the meadows of Panhartu. The evening will be adorned with bonfire, music, good food and definitely the beautiful views around will be the major attraction.

DAY 4: PANHARTU-THAMSAR PASS-PANHARTU (15748 FEET)

Today is the D-day we all have been waiting for! We will finally climb the mighty and marvellous Thamsar Pass which lies at the altitude of 15738 feet. No doubt that this is a little bit weary trek which will require lot of climbing but at the end, it’s all worth it. One gets to see the great grand Thamsar glaciers and other small glacial lakes. As you reach at the top, you will be stunned by the beauty of this divine creation. Himalayan ranges like Pir Pinjal, Kalihani and Bhara Bhangal. After immersing this beautiful reality, we will come back to our camp site at Panhartu.

              

THAMSAR PASS TREK- A TREASURE OF EXPERIENCE TO HOLD CLOSE TO YOUR HEART!

 

DAY 5: PANHARTU-RAJGUNDHA

On day 5, we will start descending towards Rajgundha. We will take a break to have our food and after reaching Rajgundha we will again absorb the scenic beauty this place has to offer. We will spend the night at our camping site in Rajgundha.

 

DAY 6: BILLING-BIR-PALAMPUR

On the last day of our trek, we will take a walk from Rajgundha to Billing through the captivating forests of Oak and Pine. The views here will take your breath away and leave an everlasting impression in your minds and hearts. One can enjoy and explore the option of Paragliding from the world’s second highest Paragliding site at 2400 meters. The other option is to take a cab from Bir and savour the local cuisines like Thupka and Momos. Apart from this, you can explore the monasteries of Sherabling and Nyingma. For shopaholics, local markets are a perfect option to make this trip more memorable. In the end, we can take a stroll in the Tea Garens of Palampurand spend some time by the river Neugel.

This will mark an end to this wonderful trek and we will head back to our hometowns with the suitcases of our heart carrying infinite and unforgettable memories!

 

BUDGET

The whole trek of 6 days can approximately cost Rs. 8000 per person. The whole trek will include three meals per day, fun activities and camping facilities and emergency situations related to medicines, etc. With this cost, the cost of travelling to Jogindernagar from your respective hometowns is separate.
