  1. Murud Janjira – the fort stands tall

A stretch of glittering white sand, the Murud beach is free from the tourist rush. Seeing the setting sun above the horizon is a delightful sight. Murud-Janjira is the local name for the fort situated on an island just off the coastal village of Murud. The Fort is situated on an oval-shaped rock off the Arabian Sea coast 160 km away from Pune city. This is the only fort which Shivaji Maharaj could not capture despite several attempts. You should certainly visit this place for its historic value and adorable beaches.
