Bhagamandala is a famous Hindu temple in Bhagamandala town on the banks of Kaveri. It is a very famous amongst the pilgrims visiting south. Inside the temple complex, there are various shrines of Bhangadeshwara (Ishwara), Subramanya, Mahavishnu, and Ganpati. During Tula sankrama, that is 17 and 18 October a huge crowd of devotees is seen in the temple offering prayer and Prasad and taking a holy dip in the temple tank. King Dodda Vira Rajendra was the one who turned this beautiful place called Bhagamandala into an independent Kodagu kingdom.
The temple complex is said to be constructed by the Chola rulers during their reign. It has a gabled roof and simple yet elegant architecture. The temple is easily approachable from Madikeri town. The place is also popular for the majestic meet of three perennial rivers at Triveni Sangam namely; Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyoti. The view of the water from the three rivers mixing to form a heavenly landscape is worth blessing your eyes and soul with. Bhagamandala is also famous as a honey marketing center and even houses a bee rearing center; Madhuvana.
