The oldest monastery of Nubra Valley is state of traditional Buddhist architecture from 14th century. Diskit Monastery or Deskit monastery is situated at the top of the hill where you can see the panoramic view of the Diskit town.

The monastery is large enough to host many Gompa inside and residing place for many monks here. There is a near by Maitreya Buddha statue is also a sight to watch. There are prayer halls and various images of guardian gods with a huge drum. This monastery belongs tot he Gelugpa sect(Yellow Hat) of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery’s cupola is same as the Tashilhunpo Monastery of Tibet.

The annual festival is organized here in the month of February called as
Dosmoche festival.
