Ooty Lake is an artificial contribution to nature by mankind. It is a 2 km long L shaped lake formed from damming down mountain streams flowing down the Ooty Valley. Its picturesque surroundings and its ambience make it a perfect getaway near Bangalore for nature lovers.

There are forest reserves on banks of the Lake which protect flora and fauna of the region and add to the charm of the area. It was constructed in 1924, and is located behind the Main Bus Stand. Ooty Lake consists of a boat house, where boats and ferries are available, mini gardens, rides for kids, shopping centers, food joints and a toy train for kids. Activities like boating, going for picnics and horse riding are very common here. Summers are the best time to visit this place and to enjoy this scenic beauty.
