Tulian lake provides the perfect opportunity for trekkers to test their resolve and passion. All while enjoying the abundant bounty of nature in the form of towering Alpine forests and the majestic snow capped Himalayan peaks. But this journey is not for the faint of heart, as the path wounds through steep mountainous terrain for 16 kms. The trail starts from the Lidder river in Pahalgam, after which the path finally enters the embrace of the ALpine forest. Not much light enters the high canopy of this forest, but this setting gives one the feeling of walking through enchanted woods straight out of some fairy tale. Past a point for Biasaran, there are no clearly marked trails. The best way is to follow the Lidder upstream. After around 4 hours through the forest, the path reaches Gujjar hut, where one can have refreshments and replenish their supplies before entering the snow area. The most exhausting part of the trail starts now as one has to traverse through the snow to reach Tulian Lake. Though this trek is a severe test of endurance, it is worth the effort, as the trek culminates in breathtaking views of the lake, surrounded by mountains.
