#Monastery in Palampur

Tashi Jong in Tibetan stands for ‘auspicious valley’, which is actually an entire community of monks, practitioners and realized practitioners called ‘togdens’. The Khampagar Monastery therein, is the primary school for Tibetan teachings and practices. The Indian gaddi tribal people also live in this area along with Tibetan people.

Belonging to the Tashi Jong community of Tibetan refugees, the monastery is a beautiful structure. The temple is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Secondary prayer halls are situated on either side of the main garden. One can get a stunning view of the Kangra valley from the monastery. The complex also has a craft emporium where Tibetan handicrafts are up for sale.
