The name Agnigarh suggests a fire fort. People often come here for picnic or simply to enjoy the scenes and sights. There is a very famous legendary story behind this place. This renowned mythological place is connected with the romance of Prince Aniruddha and Princess Usha. Aniruddha was the grandson of Lord Krishna, whereas Usha was the daughter of Banasura, the famous Asura king and prime devotee of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Agnigarh is the very place where a fortress was built by the Asura king, to keep his daughter in isolation. Currently Agnigarh is present in Tezpur in the form of a small hill facing River Brahmaputra. This hill provides a complete view of the city. It is also surrounded by a clean and green park displaying certain sculptures related to the couple along with giant mushrooms and a waterfall.

Besides these other animals found here are Black Bear, many types of deer’s, butterflies, fishes, elephants etc. This park is full of rivers. Fishing is the famous activity which is held by forest department. The golden mahseer fish is famous in these region where they grown to 3-9 feet. They are known as “tigers of the Himalayan rivers”. River Jiyabharali flows down through the Nameri National Park which provides wide vistas for adventure water sports like rafting.

                            The Kalia Bhomora Setu is a pre-stressed concrete road bridge built over the river of Brahmaputra. The 3015-meter long bridge took 6 years to be completed. The bridge was named after Ahom General Kalia Bhomora Phukan. American Concrete Institute had recognized this construction as the most outstanding concrete structure in 1988 and had awarded Hindustan Construction Company, which constructed the bridge.
