A 5-Star Review: I have a 50-pound terrier mix named Orion who looks and acts like a deranged Muppet. He’s also not a good swimmer. We went to our neighborhood park today, which features a large lake in the center. I put this life jacket on him (first time wearing one) and let him float around in the water for a second. My fiancé said, “Hey, maybe don’t let him in the water without a leash, because he’s insane.” I insisted he was fine; he always came back when he got tired. Orion realized he was now invincible, so he shot off after a flock of geese. I once again told Robert, the owner of this Amazon account, that everything was fine.
Orion was gliding smoothly through the water, frightening local wildlife and drawing attention from the large crowd of evening joggers and strolling families. I kept insisting he was fine, everything was fine, it’s just a dog chasing geese. Sure, there was a fine for off-leash dogs, but it wouldn’t come to that. He would get tired in a minute and come back.
After fifteen minutes, it became clear that he was not coming back. In fact, he was picking up speed. This park bordered a busy road, so I grew afraid he would climb out at an unideal spot and be squashed flat in front of several children. We pulled our mastiff puppy out of the water (he’s an angel) and grabbed his life jacket (different brand, irrelevant here) and I wrapped it around my body and kind of waddle-leapt into the water after this freaking dog.
I never got within fifty yards of him. The Vivaglory New Sports Style Ripstop Dog Life Jacket is that good.
After flailing and shouting “Orion” for fifteen minutes in front of the community, I flopped to shore in defeat. Robert paced the edge of the lake for a while. Orion kept gliding through the sea and upsetting geese, content to have found his calling, glowing with the essence of someone who is living their best life.
A soccer mom with four (FOUR!) children surrounding her on various vehicles approached. She said she knew the park conservancy people who could unlock a nearby shed and haul a boat out. Meanwhile, another group of children started to draw the geese toward them with breadcrumbs. Orion followed the flock toward the crumb-filled shore. Robert ripped his shirt off and crouched, ready to leap when Orion was close enough. The soccer mom pushed her stroller, which was tied to a puppy (a puppy! Who is she!) toward the conservancy shed to wait for one of her local government contacts. It was down a trail and across a parking lot, so she stationed her children at various points and instructed them to find and notify her if Orion was caught and the boat was not needed.
The breadcrumb children, who were all wearing costumes in May, I feel is important to add, threw those crumbs for all they were worth. The geese got closer and closer, and Orion edged toward the bank, and Robert—who hates both swimming and attention—yelled and barreled into the water, leapt on our dog, and hauled him to shore.
One of the soccer mom’s kids biked off to relay the news. I jogged after him to thank her personally.
“You got him?” she asked when I told her the news. “Thank god. They couldn’t get the boat out, anyway.”
And you know what? They wouldn’t have needed to. Keep your boat, park conservancy people. Keep your generosity, you friendly parental anomaly. Orion would have been perfectly fine. He had the Vivaglory New Sports Style Ripstop Dog Life Jacket.
A Critical Review: This product didnt fit despite measurements listed. I bought a medium but now need a large. BUYER BEWARE if this doesnt fit it will cost you to drop off and pickup to RETURN IT! There are plenty of other sellers on amazon that sell this type of item with free returns in case it doesnt fit. Keep looking….this isnt the one….

A Critical Review: I ordered a Large for my senior 50ish pound Rottweiler mix which I measured per the size chart but had to exchange for an Extra Large – It does appear to be exactly what I need for him as once he gets to the beach and the water, its hard to get him out and I am afraid he will get tired and may not be able to make it back to shore , hence I am more comfortable if he is wearing a flotation device. Plan on using with a long line for extra safety – and it does have a hook for a leash which is awesome -all the others I looked at just had a “handle” Can’t wait for warmer weather!

A 5-Star Review: My dog is a 6 year old German shepherd lab mix. Chest is 31.5 inches and neck is 21.5 inches. I wrote to the seller to see what size I needed in the Vivaglory New Sport Style Ripstop vest since the 31.5 inch chest put her at the top of the Large and bottom of the XL. Their reply message suggested that I consider this other model neoprene vest in the XL size. I wanted something that would not hinder her movement since she is a bit picky about being messed with. I will submit pictures that show her reaction. These pictures tell the story I wanted to share. I put the vest on for a first fit and immediately took these photos. She acted as if the vest was invisible. That is what I wanted. The quality of the product seems very good. Plan to share pictures once we get to the lake later this month. Hopefully, this virus settles down and some normalcy can be realized again. Hope everyone stays healthy.
A Critical Review: I’m disappointed in this life jacket unfortunately – I did so much research to find a jacket that would be low profile and not bulky, but still high functioning. My dog can swim for miles and never tire, but I wanted something just for my ease of mind to know that IF something happened, he would have some help.
Cons:
1. I’m not convinced the buoyancy is enough I really help if needed. Just laying the jacket in the water and pushing down with my hands to get a feel for resistance, there’s just not much there. I would not trust this for heavy currents whatsoever.
2. One of the straps on the right side (3rd picture) ripped loose at the seam after only the 2nd use, and no major force on it. The hardest I pulled on the handle was to help Duke onto my paddle board, at more of a steadying hold rather than actually pulling hard. I would 100% return this, but the strap ripped 4 days after the return deadline.
Pros:
1. It’s very sleek and attractive! I liked that I could get a more muted color than the other jackets that just come in orange or red. It looks like a very high quality, expensive item. The stitching on mine just didn’t hold up.
2. Fits well! I went off the side guide and the jacket fit my dog like a glove.

A 5-Star Review: Well if this life jacket is good enough for Lewis then it’s good enough for your dog. Lewis doesn’t like anything. I mean he hates treats, balls, and squeaky toys. You name it he hates it. Water….he hates that too. So we got him this life jacket. He struts around in this thing like its a dang tuxedo. If he falls off the boat it even has a handle to lift all 17 lbs of him back in. Lewis was not paid for this review even though he wears the jacket like he was.
A Critical Review: We bought this for a 5. 1/2 lb chihuahua. We planned on using for lake trip July 4th. Sat the 3rd , out of lake put him in the water with the life jacket on and he did a barrel roll in the water. Not quite what we expected. Our dog may have been on the small side but we knew this was not going to save his life. Maybe keep him floating until someone could grab him but he couldn’t be unattended. We knew the return window would close but just a note for very small dogs, ours did not stay up right in the water.

A 5-Star Review: After measuring my dog I ordered the suggested size, and it fits her perfectly. I’m not sure why other reviews state the item runs small. My dog isn’t used to wearing something so bulky, but she didn’t seem to mind much once we were on the go! It gave me great peace of mind knowing that if she were to fall into the river, she would be okay. And the color (purple) was exactly as pictured.
A Critical Review: Have a large golden retriever and followed the measurements provided, ordered an XL and it still looks like I stuffed him into a tube top.
XL is the largest they have. May work for small to medium dogs but definitely not for large dogs.

A Critical Review: TERRIBLE. 1) WAYYYY too small. This didn’t even fit my 25 pound Boykin spaniel puppy. 2) 100% would NOT keep him afloat at all. 3) Hugeeee Velcro to wrap around for adjustable sizing BUT this is a bad thing. This would pick your bathing suit, boat seats potentially, and would create picks in the buckles as well. 4) the handle would NOT hold the weight of your dog if you needed to pick them up with it out of the water.

A 5-Star Review: I purchased the XXL vest for our 110 lb Lab and it worked great! The straps are adjustable with Velcro and clasps in both the chest and around the waist, so was able to adjust to fit him perfectly. It took a little for him to get used to it, mostly with how it fits around his chest, but he is always so excited to swim he was ignoring it in no time. We won’t use it often but in instances where we’re around swift water it gives me a huge peace of mind that even if it’s injured or swept down stream that he’ll be kept afloat until he gets to calmer waters. The D Ring on the top worked well with our leash, so no need for his collar just our e-collar and life vest. The only negative would be that I don’t believe the handle would support us lifting him out of the water, as his weight would exceed the strength of that fabric, but given his size that is understandable. Over all very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend!

A 5-Star Review: We live on a lake and Molly, my Brittany Spaniel, loves to swim. I aways wondered how I could put a flag on her so boats could see her. My neighbor suggested a swimming vest for dogs. I finally bought one and the orange color and orange fin make her very visible. One thing that kept me from the highest rating is that the neck is too large for her and hangs. She weighs 42 pounds. The Velcro wrap around part of the large size fits fine, but another reason I did not rate it the highest is that the buckles around her belly will not stay put when tightened and loosen. The Velcro holds fine, and the buckles are a backup. Molly also never had a problem wearing it.

Pros: he can swim and is kept above water. So it works for a brick of a dog :0)
Cons: above water, but low- so a small wave could easily go above his face/head. Head rest is off to the side a bit. Handle is a bit flimsy but works. Velcro around belly is exposed while it’s on, so when I am in the water with him it snags on my suit.
A Critical Review: I own a 80lb Pitbull and doesn’t have much fat due to his workout routine and he sank straight to floor of pool. This might be for lighter or fatter dogs.

This has a cute shark fin which is bound to attract attention and make some people scaredits made with high grade polyester with and Oxford nylon outer layer and foam inner layer to provide them with the ability to float. It dries quick so they don’t stay wet all day. It’s light weight and doesn’t effect the dogs movement. It has a easy to grab handle so you can easily grab them if you need to. And it comes with a D ring to attach the leash to so they are always in reach. It also has a mermaid design but I thought the shark design would be funner for everyone else at the beach. They are adjustable so they fit them perfectly. It’s easy to take off but stays in place when needed. It comes in xs, s, m, l and xl which fit most all breeds of dogs from chihuahua to Saint Bernard.

A 5-Star Review: Great range of motion on this product than the other 3 I’ve purchased from different companies. I like that it has the clip on top to attach a leash to. Don’t recommend making a habit of the “oh shit” handle, as there are no vests on the market that are very durable with avoiding rips. This seems most durable of any I have. I did notice a easy to fix rip in my frenchie’s this weekend along a seam, but it’s so well hidden that it may have been like that at purchase.
The pillow for the front is huge and works great compared to the other version purchased for my pug if they’re actively swimming, but for short legged dogs, it can be difficult for them to walk with so I like the removable feature aspect. It does not stay up like the photo unless they’re in the water that height.
I tried fitting this on my pug as hers is almost too tight, but her neck isn’t as thick that it was far too big compared to my 9mo old frenchie who it is already a bit big for. Definitely suited for bully-type breeds which is hard to find normally!!!!
A Critical Review: When your dog eases in the water…it works fine. My dog fell overboard and her front paw wound up through the neck hole with all the panic going on. I was glad I was close enough to quickly grab her. It just doesn’t fit her shape like I had hoped.

A Critical Review: I ordered a Large for my senior 50ish pound Rottweiler mix which I measured per the size chart but had to exchange for an Extra Large – It does appear to be exactly what I need for him as once he gets to the beach and the water, its hard to get him out and I am afraid he will get tired and may not be able to make it back to shore , hence I am more comfortable if he is wearing a flotation device. Plan on using with a long line for extra safety – and it does have a hook for a leash which is awesome -all the others I looked at just had a “handle” Can’t wait for warmer weather!

A 5-Star Review: Good value for the money. Super cute. Only negative is that the leash attachment point and handle isn’t properly secured (imo) to the rest of the harness strap-structure. I fear that the d-ring and handle could rip free when needed most. The d-ring and handle webbing should be stitched thru the webbing that create the chest streps (the harness). Both the handle and the d-ring miss the front chest strap completely creating a weak point. The stitching is already tearing free after only one weekends use.
A Critical Review: I was so excited for this and at first, I still was through the first use. For my 23# mini labradoodle, I actually use the handle though to pull her back onto my paddle board and after two times using the life jacket, it had ripped. I guess that’s what you get for a inexpensive life jacket for a dog. I guess I will only be purchasing the less cute ones that are actually usable.

A 5-Star Review: I reviewed a lot of dog life vests. I wanted to avoid those with a lot of Velcro which would entrap my dog’s hair. This vest is well constructed. I like the two handles on the back (one vertical and one horizontal) which gives you options to grab and pull your dog out of the water. The underside of the vest consists of foam padding on each side which are secured by 2 straps and buckles. On my dog, the two foam sides don’t meet in the center under her belly, but there’s still plenty of buoyant support. The best part is no Velcro, and it’s easy to put on with the two buckles. There’s a band that goes over the head and supports the front of the neck/chest. It is adjustable too. Check out my pictures to get a better idea of how it works. A good choice for a dog life vest! Finally, I just wanted to add that the highly rated Ruffwear life vest is VERY similar but it’s double the price, and it has a very small piece of velcro that is used to secure the underside straps, which could irritate your dog (not likely though). I personally think that the Kurgo is a much better value.
A Critical Review: I received an old and a new red life vest and the original old one is correct with its removeable floatation, but the new one does not have this feature as described. I have tried ordering the old one now twice and they continue to send me the new one that does not have the same features as the original old one. With that said, the new one is cheaper than the old one, so they are charging me more. 🙁 I do not believe they have the old one any more because they continue to send the new one and that one isn’t as described either. 🙁

A Critical Review: We purchased this for our four-month-old Labrador retriever. We’ve used it approximately five times. The fit and form of the product is excellent, however it has one severe flaw. The emergency grab handle failed when I tried to lift my dog out of the water. She was swimming with older dogs and I could see that she was becoming overwhelmed. I reached over to lift her up, and the handle broke. See the attached pictures. This is a very good general use jacket, but do not count on being able to snatch your dog easily and quickly out of the water in case of emergency.

A 5-Star Review: Great material, great lifejacket, but with the straps at it’s tightest position hang about 6″ open. The straps provide no security at all. At their tightest position, the Velcro is wide open. Weird. I’m excited for them to figure this out and come out with an upgrade. Was going to cut and sew the straps, but for the cost, I’ll order a brand that actually works on fitting.

A 5-Star Review: Really like the overall look and functionality of the product. The front neck strap is way too big though, and not adjustable. My beagle was able to get his leg up next to his neck, at which point he got stuck.
A Critical Review: In general this is a good life jacket for my 90# catahoula. The problem is the chest floatation pops out from the fastening strap and I find my dog leading himself back to shore. The plastic fastener on the chest strap constantly slips out as well. I would not buy this again.
