Adventure sports have been defined as, recreational activities perceived as involving a high degree of risk. But for the true adventure lovers, nothing is ever too risky.

   For adventure geeks, the world is their stage. We find quite a lot of adventure sports destinations all around the world. New Zealand, often known as the Mecca of adventure sports attracts the most number of adventure enthusiasts, other popular destinations being Chile, United States, Israel, Slovenia and others.

 

India too is fast becoming a must visit destination for all adventure lovers. Though many of the sports activities like scuba diving are quite new in India but the perfect balance of all kinds of geological and climatic conditions makes it a perfect destination for adventures. From the Himalayan mountains, to the deserts to the fresh lagoons in Kerala, India has it all.

 

So, for all you adventure lovers look no further ‘cause here’s presenting to you some of the best adventure sports destinations for the absolute adrenaline rush!

 

1.     TREKKING

We all want to venture out into wilderness and get lost into the most magical places with absolute breathtaking views. Trekking has long been a favorite adventure sport to many. India offers many beautiful destinations where trekking seems like a dream.

 

(A)  Ladakh

Ladakh on the west of the Himalayas is considered among the very few destinations ideal for the best experience in trekking. The panoramic views and the challenging heights work like a charm on adventure enthusiasts.

 

 One of the most famous treks in the Ladakh is the Markha Valley trek, where travelers come across small villages, magnificent landscapes and shepherd passes.

The Zanskar Valley in the heart of Ladakh on the other hand, is a land of challenging paths, mesmerizing landscapes with numerous rugged terrains and mountain ranges. In the snow covered winters you can also try and walk on the frozen Zanskar River, which is also considered one the most toughest treks in India.

There are many more trekking routes in Ladakh, like the Nubra Valley, Henaskut, Tsomoriri and others.

 

 

(B)  Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, known as ‘the land of Gods’- is a beautiful destination for trekking and camping in India.

 

Garhwal in the one that attracts the most trekkers in this region. It provides all types of trek routes from easy to challenging.

Auden’s Col is one of the toughest treks in this region. The trek starts from Gangotri and on the way to Nala pass. The trek offers views of the snow-clad Himalayas while you also pass through pine forests.

Bamsaru Valley is known for its wild flowers, rich meadows and breathtaking views. It is considered one of the least explored valleys in Garhwal region.

(C)  Kerala

Kerala seems to be an unusual state for trekking but, this region too has it’s share of trek routes with beautiful and serene views. The trek routes in Kerala are ideal for first timers who want to take a shot at trekking.

 

The Chembra Peak in Kerala is a part of the Wayanad hill ranges and is at 2,100 meters above sea level. The heart-shaped lake en route to the peak in the highlight of this trek.

      Meesapulimala peak in the Idukki district of Kerala is a place of biodiversity. It has been declared a UNESCO World heritage site. The trek on one side is approximately of 5kms and takes about 10 hours to complete.

2.     RIVER RAFTING

 

River rafting is the most popular adventure sport in India. There are an ample number of destinations where one could go river rafting.

 

(A) Kullu- Manali

Kullu is the number one destination for water rafting in India. Rafting takes place on the stretches of the River Beas from Pirdi down to Jhiri. A stretch of approximately 14ms.

(B)  Rishikesh- River Ganga

The Ganga offers the best experiences for rafters in India. Rishikkesh which is situated in the Garhwal Himalayas are top favorites of many.

3.     BUNJEE JUMPING

Bunjee Jumping is rather a new and upcoming sport in India. This sport is definitely not for the faint of heart.

  All adrenaline lovers know for sure that Rishikesh is the best bunjee jumping spot in India. Rishikesh has the highest bunjee jumping spot in India and the only one with a fixed platform to jump from.

Other places like Lonavala, Goa and Bangalore too have provisions for bunjee jumping.

 

 

4.     SCUBA DIVING

The most amusing water sports- Scuba diving gives us a glimpse of underwater life. India is home to many scuba diving sites.

 

 

(A) Andaman and Nicobar Islands

One of the most fascinating destinations to experience and visualize the beautiful marine life through scuba diving is these islands.they have a large variety of marine creatures from sharks, octopus to coral reefs.

(B)   Goa

Goa the most famous travel destination in India has more to offer than it’s beaches. There is a sea of treasures down there in the waters.
