Allahabad Fort, Allahabad is one of the most prized citadels of the Mughal Empire. The massive Allahabad Fort is believed to be originally built by The Great Ashoka and repaired by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1583. The largest fort built by Akbar stands proudly near the Triveni Sangam in Allahabad. The architectural design and the magnificent galleries make this fort as one of the important places to visit in Allahabad.

The huge fort has three beautiful galleries and massive walls flanked by high towers. The Allahabad Fort’s inside view is amazing. There are many attractions inside the Allahabad Fort such as the Zenana Palace for women of those times, Palace of Mariam-uz-Zamani, 3rd century BC the Ashoka Pillar, Saraswati Koop and the Patalpuri Temple and the Akshaya Vat or the immortal Banyan tree. The Saraswati Kund or Saraswati Koop is the major attractions inside the fort and is considered to be the source of mythical river Saraswati.
