The Hanuman Temple is situated at the Sangam area of the Prayag. It is also famous as Bade Hanumanji Mandir of Allahabad. It is an underground temple. It is possibly the only temple in India which has the idol of Lord Hanuman based in a reclining position.

This position of the statue is due to the interesting story behind this Hanuman Mandir of Allahabad. The huge idol of Lord Hanuman is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide. The most interesting fact about this temple is that it gets submerged in the Ganges river when the water level rises. According to mythology, it is believed that the water of the river Ganges rises to touch the feet of the Lord Hanuman’s idol. The Hanuman Mandir Darshan timing is from 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the morning and 16:00- 22:00 hrs in the evening.
