                        “Uma-nanda is a Shiva and Parvati temple located at the Peacock Island in the middle of river Brahmaputra. Way to reach: North Guwahati by ferries and steamers. One can hire a ferry from Sukleshwar ghat or Fancy Bazar Ghat. Sukleshwar ghat is expensive Ferris it take around Rs.80-150(INR) per person However, Fancy Bazaar ghat a much convenient and cheaper transport it take Rs.10(INR) per person it is Govt. Ferry that’s why is cheaper but you have time for that 10.00am-05.00pm Also visit Sukleshwar temple you can reach 10min walking distance from both ferry spots.”

The motor boats are available everyday from 7am to 5pm.

                            Kamakhya Temple is located on Nilachal Hills in western part of Guwahati on adjoining banks of Brahmaputra river. Apart from this, there are also the temples of 10 Mahavidyas in and around temple. These include Bhuvaneshvari, Bagalamukhi, Chinnamasta,Tripura Sundari, Tara, Kali, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Matangi and Kamala Temples. It is one among the 52 Shakti Peeths of India. There is no image of Shakti here. Within a corner of the cave in the temple, there is sculptured image of the yoni of the goddess, which is the object of reverence. A natural spring keeps the stone moist. It is an important pilgrimage destination for all sects of Hindus and especially for Tantric worshipers.

Its divine place situated in a island between brahmaputra river. In the temple you can see maa parvati and Shiva pic on shivalinga. That’s why it’s called uma nanda. You can see beautiful sunset from here.

The Planetarium uses the Japanese Goto GX instrument. The hardware includes the GX starfield projector, sixty special-effects projectors, and the sky theatre’s sound system. The show software is also supplied by Goto.

You have to either drive or walk up a hill, and from its foot you start hearing the sounds of prayers and conches and prayer bells. When you enter the temple, the sight is breathtaking — the inside us tastefully decorated and the main sanctum Sanatorium is dazzling with beautiful Radha Krishna idols. Though the air is rent with prayer sounds, it is still peaceful. The dresses of the idols are worth seeing. The temple is worth a visit on festivals and especially during Krishna Janmashtami. Besides, an aarti is held every evening at around 5-6.
