Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur

The Jaigarh Fort of Jaipur is one of the magnificent royal constructions of Jaipur that grabs the attention of tourists. The Jaigarh Fort is intact and was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the Amber fort and palaces. The huge structure with unending walls is situated on the Aravalli Hills overlooking the Maota Lake at a distance of 15 km from the Jaipur city. The Jaigarh Fort treasure story is famous worldwide.

It is believed that a huge treasure was buried under the fort which Rajasthan Government seized in the 1970s. The carvings on the walls along with the rainwater harvesting system make this fort an architectural wonder. The fort has many complexes to store weapons and war utilities. The Fort also houses a museum that displays the weapons and war utilities. The Jaigarh Fort to Amber Fort is connected via subterranean passages. The fort also houses world’s largest cannon on wheels- Jaiban. The fort also has a beautiful garden for resting and picnic.
