Dow Hill

#Hill in Kurseong

One of the myriad hills in Kurseong, Dow Hill is a famous tourist spot. Adorned with dense forests; the locals believe it to be an abode to leopards. The erstwhile Deer Park is located on the hill top. Although once replete with deer, currently their numbers are dwindling; from they can be seen only from the other side of the fence.

There is, however, an impressive range of plants, a gazebo for resting and joyrides for children. Two other notable places worth visiting are the Dow Hill Girls School and the Victoria Boys School. Both were built during the colonial era and bear testimony to the magnificent British architectural style. Besides, the schools also boast of a splendid location with a view of the Himalayan range on one side. The surroundings are painted green with coniferous trees and diverse plants. The Hill also bears a large reservoir that supplies water to the Kurseong town. Lying amidst lush green vegetation, there is a picnic spot at a height in this area that offers a brilliant view of the reservoir.
