Nand Prayag is the second prayag in the cascade sequence of the confluences where the Nandakini River joins the main Alaknanda River. It was once the capital of Yadu Kingdom. Raja Nanda performed huge fire purification ceremony on a stone which was later used as the foundation of the Nand temple situated in Nandprayag.

Trekkers are often seen here on their way to Tapovan across Kunwari pass, or on their way to Roopkund. This beautiful spot is a major tourist point. A holy dip in the confluence of Nandprayag washes all the sins.
