Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just starting out, the right pair of hiking boots is essential for a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the trail. And when it comes to choosing the perfect pair of men’s hiking boots, Timberland is a brand that always delivers quality and value. Timberland has been making outdoor footwear since 1952, and their hiking boots are some of the most popular on the market. Timberland hiking boots are available in a wide range of styles and sizes to suit every need, and they’re built to last with tough materials and construction.

When it comes to choosing the right pair of Timberland hiking boots for you, it’s important to consider the type of terrain you’ll be walking on and how much support you need. If you’re planning on doing mostly day hikes on relatively flat trails, a lighter boot like the Trail Low will be a good choice. For longer hikes or more adventurous routes that include rocky sections or steep inclines, go for a mid-weight boot like the Pathmaker II Mid GTX which provides extra support and stability. And if you know you’ll be dealing with difficult conditions like deep snow or icy trails, choose a heavy-duty boot like the Mt. Maddsen which has waterproofing and insulation features to keep your feet warm and dry.

No matter what style of Timberland hiking boot you choose, you can be confident that your feet will be well-protected against all kinds of weather conditions and terrain thanks to features like waterproof leather uppers, durable rubber outsoles, padded collars, gusseted tongues, and steel shanks. You’ll also appreciate the attention to detail that Timberland puts into every pair of their boots, from convenient speed lacing systems to comfortable footbeds with plenty of cushioning. With all these features combined, it’s no wonder that Timberland hiking boots are some of the most popular on the market today!

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 1) Timberland Men’s White Ledge Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Mens: Timberland Men's White Ledge Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: The Timberland Men’s White Ledge Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot is the perfect choice for your next hike. With a waterproof design, these boots will keep your feet dry and comfortable all day long. The mid-cut design provides support and stability on uneven terrain, while the EVA midsole provides cushioning and shock absorption. The rubber outsole provides traction and stability on all surfaces.

A 5-Star Review: I needed a pair of hiking boots to replace the Keene boots that were only 1 1/2 yrs old but not only lost their waterproofing in the first six months but had a weed stalk in the field go right through the side and almost break my skin. This was the second pair of Keene’s that had gone bad in just over a year and, I was getting tired of replacing them.

Started looking at reviews and found these. They have a large toe box with plenty of room. Before I took them out I took another reviewers advice and put a coating of Mink Oil on them. They were comfortable but I knew they’d take a little break in. I now have about three or four miles of walking through the fields and surprisingly they seem to be breaking in rather quickly. I usually put on about 500-700 miles a year.

One note, if you’re looking for hiking boots that will give you really good ankle support these ARE NOT for you, look elsewhere. These are for easy hiking, fields and roadway. When I got them I first put in a pair of Dr. Scholls and that went a long way toward making them immediately comfortable.

If I remember I’ll give an update in three or four months.

UPDATE: Jan. 6, 2018 – I’ve now had a chance to wear these for a while including the recent snow storm and frigid temps (at least for us). We got 5” of snow, temps this morning, when I took the dog out, we’re 4 or 5 degrees with a windchill of -8. I had been wearing wool socks with these and my feet have stayed warm and dry on a 25 to 35 min. walk through the fields. This time, with the snow and frigid windchill I decided to try just summer cotton socks. Bear in mind I’m a 70 year old with diabetes, which does affect circulation, so I’m pretty sensitive to cold and heat and the comfort of my foot wear. (I walk approximately 3 miles a day with my dog, even in the snow and cold unless it’s too much for her.) So, the results of a 20 minute walk were still warm and dry feet. I could have gone much further but Harley was getting snow turning to ice between her toes every few minutes and we’d have to stop and I’d have to remove it.

Bottom line: When I received these boots I put in my Dr. Scholls insoles from my previous pair, rubbed in three coats of mink oil on dry days (which I think was key to waterproofing) and started walking. I’ve found them to be far more comfortable than the Keen’s I was previously wearing. I don’t walk as much as a lot of people, about 25 miles a week, but they’re doing well for me for field and neighborhood walking.

2/9/18: I like to keep folks updated on important stuff: If you want a pair of boots to wear, every day, and forget when you take them off, look elsewhere. Because these are leather they require a LOT of care. If they get soaking wet do NOT continue to wear them the next day, you’ll ruin them. I’ve found that when mine get soaked from walking in the pouring rain, in the field with my dog, I wipe them clean with an old towel, put shoe trees in them to keep the leather from shrinking and set them aside where there’s a flow of air to let them air dry. Do not try and force dry them with hot air, you’ll ruin the leather. Putting them a few feet away from a fan seems to work okay or just let them sit. While they’re drying I use an old pair that I kept. After they have dried completely I retreat every inch of leather, paying particular attention to seams and around grommets, with mink oil, let it sit and dry then retreat again.

Is the above a pain? Yes it is but these appear to be quality boots and you need to take care of them, not let them get muddy and wet and toss them in the corner for the next day.

Update: 11/12/18 I’ve now had these boots a year and for the money they were a good buy but I’ll repeat a couple of points I made previously.
1. They are not, in any way, shape or form waterproof.
2. If you get them soaked do NOT simply take them off and leave them in a dark hallway. If you do they’ll be ruined. Put them on a towel in front of a fan blowing room temperature air on them. Do not, under any circumstances, place them on a heated surface or someplace where hot air blows on them, you’ll ruin the leather.
3. Once completely dry polish your boots. This is how I do it: I put a match to the polish (in the can) and let it flame and liquify, then take a rag and dip it into the liquid polish and rub it into the leather. Then I take a clean cloth and further rub the polish in and finally use a brush to buff the polish to a shine. Yes, it takes time and effort but if you wear leather hiking boots and walk through wet fields you should take the time to take care of the leather.

In wet weather I don’t wear these two days in a row. If you’re looking for that type of boot you’re also looking at three times the price.

A Critical Review: I have an old & new pair of identical style/size boots. The 5 year old pair were and still are very comfortable all day on concrete floor, no break-in required.
Except for a couple of quick-lace eyelet failures, the old pair have stayed together & decently waterproof. They were made in Vietnam.
The new pair, again same size & style were made in China. After wearing less than an hour the inside of by heels began to burn and on the way to blistering. I compared dial caliper measurements of the heel width & found the Chinese model heel 1/8″ more narrow than the old pair & explains a correspondingly smaller upper.
Outsourcing to the cheapest manufacturer isn’t always the best option if you want to maintain your reputation. If I wanted cheap, there’s a wally world on every corner, same boot at half price, minus the label. But hey, they cut that corner too, no Timberland embroidery stitching in the tongue! Anything to save a buck! Disappointed…

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 2) Timberland Men’s Anti-Fatigue Hiking Waterproof Leather Mt. Maddsen Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Mens: Timberland Men's Anti-Fatigue Hiking Waterproof Leather Mt. Maddsen Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: Introducing the Timberland Men‘s AntiFatigue Hiking Waterproof Leather Mt. Maddsen Boot. This boot is designed for the guy who loves to hike and be outdoors. It features a waterproof leather upper to keep your feet dry, an antifatigue footbed for allday comfort, and a durable rubber outsole for traction on any terrain. Whether you‘re hitting the trails or just taking a walk in the park, the Timberland Men‘s AntiFatigue Hiking Waterproof Leather Mt. Maddsen Boot will keep you comfortable and supported all day long.

A 5-Star Review: Okay my friends, I’m a meat dept manager with unusually large feet. These fit perfect and have taken everything I’ve thrown at them. My fat butt weighs about 315 and these are super duper comfortable. My work environment stays damp for starters, they get blood, oil, grease, and some pretty darn powerful cleaners on them, so far so good. They’ve lasted me 9 months and show no signs of falling apart despite the constant abuse. Get you some mink oil and rub em down every month or so and you’re good to go, highly recommended!

A Critical Review: I wore these boots twice & they fell apart. I attached a photo showing the sole separation from the boot. It took about a month to receive these. The support is very lacking. I put new insoles in & the boots were awesome!
Day 1, I wore them on a 6 mile hike.
Day 2, wore them to work, & the sole ripped off one of the boots.
Very disappointed!
UPDATE:
I’ve glued the soles back on. The rest of the rubber has now completely de laminated. After about 10-12 days of wear.
Complete junk!

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 3) Timberland Men’s Chocorua Trail Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Mens: Timberland Men's Chocorua Trail Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: Timberland set new industry standards for craftsmanship, durability and protection when it introduced an authentic, waterproof leather boot in 1973. A global leader in design, engineering and marketing of premium footwear, Timberland values consumers who demand the best. With a history of innovation and dedication to quality, Timberland continues to lead the industry with the latest in footwear technology and design. From work boots and hiking boots to sandals and boots, Timberland has a shoe for everyone.

A 5-Star Review: These Timberlands are never disappointing. I have been ordering them for years. Now you might think that is boring and predictable but they seem to be made for my foot as far as comfort and feel, size 9.5.
I use them exclusively for work so I can attest to them in the field in all sorts of terrain and ambients. They are reliable and sure-footed. This is important to me. Buy them!

A Critical Review: I got these to walk through the rainforest in our trip to Tasmania. It is a pair of light weight and good looking boots but after a couple hours if walking it stated to run my right ankle so bad that I was in such a pain that it felt like I can take one more step. I was limping for two more hours on our was back and that was the last time I dared to wear them. Such a disappointment for a pair of Timberland boots which are supposed to be the best.

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 4) Timberland Men’s Flume Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Mens: Timberland Men's Flume Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: Looking for a tough and rugged hiking boot to take on any adventure? Look no further than the Timberland Men’s Flume Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot. This boot is built to last with a waterproof leather and mesh upper that will keep your feet dry, even in the wettest conditions. The EVA footbed provides cushioning and support for all-day comfort, while the Vibram outsole ensures traction and stability on any terrain. Whether you’re hitting the trails or just exploring the great outdoors, the Timberland Men’s Flume Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot has got you covered.

A 5-Star Review: This is actually the first time ever purchasing hiking shoes. We just came back from Sequoia National Park (05/09/2022) and these shoes definitely served their purpose. The fit was just right. Since I do wear orthotics, the insole is easily removable and I was able to place my own orthotics along with my own insoles. If you do the same, you might want to get a half size larger, which I did. Otherwise, these shoes were perfect in the rain (definitely rain proof), snow (also snow proof), and kept my feet warm along the trails we did.

A Critical Review: Not sure how long it takes to break these in. Ordered a size 15, true to size. Went to Glacier National in 3 days of rain, but they held up well. Then did 3 miles/day backpacking in Yosemite on rocky, but not steep terrain and the blisters were horrendous. They’re worth keeping because I think they’ll break in, and the quality held up well.

Each pair has lasted me a year and I could get a little more from them if need be but my company pays for them and allows me a new pair every year.

A Critical Review: Don’t last long

The boot also has a padded collar and a gusseted tongue that will provide you with support and comfort while you are walking or hiking. The EVA footbed will also keep your feet comfortable and supported all day long.

A 5-Star Review: Just what I ordered!!!

A Critical Review: Photo and description promised a comfortable, protective and durable boot. My normal fit is slightly loose to accommodate heavy socks. With light weight socks these boots were a bit tight and the left boot was uncomfortably tight especially in the toe box. Also boot sides were too short to adequately cover the laced over tongue. Very disappointing…

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 10) Timberland Men’s Euro Trekker Hiking Boot

A 5-Star Review: Incredible boots. Wouldn’t rly think they’re for hiking. But great for fall when you don’t wanna wear “boots” super comfy and y great quality

A Critical Review: I ordered my usual size, and there’s literally no room in the heel of the shoe at all. My foot goes in easy, as usual, but it’s like my heel is glued to the back of the shoe. It’s such a bizarre issue, but they’re unwearable for me.

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 13) Timberland PRO Men’s Powertrain Mid Alloy Toe ESD Industrial Hiking Boot, Black Synthetic

Timberland Hiking Boots Mens: Timberland PRO Men's Powertrain Mid Alloy Toe ESD Industrial Hiking Boot, Black Synthetic, 10.5 M US by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: Timberland’s iconic boots are known for their durability, comfort and protection. The boots come with alloy safety toes, breathable linings, structural support and anti-fatigue technology. The boots are made with sustainable and recycled materials.

A 5-Star Review: Alright. Here’s the fast and short. Longer below.
Excellent boots that last, are comfortable, have excellent traction on ice, snow and wet+smooth surfaces, and are worth the 100. Very happy with them.

Heres the long.
I’ve had these boots since September of 2018. It is now February of 2020. So, a year and 5 months, give or take some days.

I’m assuming they ran a touch big, because I put in some gel inserts and they then fit nicely, not too tight and not too loose. Just right.

The use:
My work for the first 8 months consisted mainly of lumber work at Home Depot, so nothing crazy, but a fair bit of being on my knees (hence the worm through tops). The rest of the time was spent as a do-it-all for a small city including digging out and replacing broken water lines, building parks and more. I’ve taken these hiking for 12 hours at a time, worn them in knee high snow, worked on a ranch, rode horses, etc. I’ve basically worn these just about every day since I bought them, even to church.

The results:
They are very comfortable, maybe partially because of the insert which I believe others recommended in the reviews which was why I bought them.
They are reasonably water tight, even with the hole in the top like in my photos. My feet got cold in the snow, but they only got damp after a couple of hours trudging in it. Ymmv.
The aren’t too heavy, but they also aren’t pink nike running shoes.
The anti-slip traction sole design is phenomenal. I often forgot how slippery ice was until someone else ate it while I might as well have been walking on wet asphalt.

I honestly have no complaints.
At this stage, I finally had the padding on the back of the heel inside of the left boot wear through to the seam that joins the two sections (ankle support and heel) of the boot together, which rendered them unusable because it would rub my heel raw. I took them to a boot repair place and he said that he wouldn’t be able to stitch new padding to the plastic. I did a quick search and found these leather adhesive pads that you can see inside of the boot. I cut away and cleaned up the lining inside of the boot, made a couple of cuts into the patches so they curved nicely and sat flat when I attached them inside of the boot and bam. Got my work boots back.
The only other thing to note is that on the left boot on the back left corner, it looks like the boot is separating from the rubber sole. I imagine I’m still likely to get another 4-5 months at least out of these.

Finally, I’ve seen some complaints about the sole of the boot ripping in half. Like i said, I’ve spent a lot of time on my knees with these boots bent in half with my feet in them. The only way I can see these ripping like that is if they suffer a lateral cut somewhere across the sole in roughly the area that flexes when you step/fold the boot.
The damage in the center of the ball area of the boots is actually recent and caused by me being dumb. I was putting a t-post into the ground and thought I would jump on the pointy spade bit at the bottom. That punctured, but didn’t penetrate, the sole of the boots. Essentially, it was unnecessarily accrued damage.

So yeah. Good boot. Excellent for the price!!! Tons and tons of hours and miles in them, with hard work. Hope to have them for another year, I expect 4-5 months at the least. If the back wears through, buy a leather adhesive patch and patch it! Much better then spending another 100 on another pair.

A Critical Review: The soles of these didn’t last long, one has a hole and a hole is begging to show on the other. They were comfortable for a short time.

A 5-Star Review: I like it

A Critical Review: I wore the Trekkers for 20 years. ~ 200,000 miles. These are Chinese. So are most of the clothes you are wearing. Expect 6 mos to 1 yr. The shoelaces are goofy – very, very long. So I used paratrooper lacing. Mabe next time I bite the bullet and buy Gokeys (500 ouch). But quality is remembered long after price is forgotten

Timberland Hiking Boots Men # 18) Timberland PRO Men’s 47007 Alpine Trail Waterproof Steel-Toe Hiking Boot

Product Summary: Timberland PRO Men‘s 47007 Alpine Trail Waterproof SteelToe Hiking Boot is a tough and durable boot that can take on any terrain. It features a waterproof leather upper and steel toe for protection against the elements and hazards. The boot also has a cushioned insole for comfort and a traction outsole for grip and stability.

A 5-Star Review: Like every other Timberland Pro boot I have worn, these are extremely comfortable, and the shield over the outside toe area absorbs dings and scrapes better than bare leather. However, I now know that (as the name suggests) these boots are best suited for the “Alpine Trail,” and less so for the industrial workplace. The moment the normally grippy tread contacts any wet, smooth surface like concrete or vinyl floor, it is like walking on ice. I thought at first it was just the newness of the boot, but after many miles of wear the wet traction has not improved. I guess there is some truth to some of my other boots’ claims of “slip-resistant” tread designs where I have not had this problem.

A Critical Review: I opened the box, inserted the foot, proceeded to lace and (2) of the lace rings broke as I attempted to lace.

Timberland used to be a good buy and a quality brand. But like most companies that choose to change their demographic to a more urban audience, up goes the profit and down goes the quality. (Similar to NorthFace) From a business standpoint, I guess I get it but its just a shame.

I will never buy a Timberland product again… good business model!!!

A 5-Star Review: I am not too impressed with these. I like them, but they are not the most comfortable and getting them on is a bit difficult. Always seems to rub the back of my ankle above the heel throughout the day.
