It is the second largest city of the region on the basis on of the municipal area and population. Located just 2 kilometres from Bangladesh, Agartala is also a cultural hub. It is located in western Tripura, and the Haroa River crosses the city. In this city, recreation, adventure and culture all come together. Also the rich flora and fauna adds to the flavour of the city making Agartala tourism interesting.

The Palace is the old residence of the erstwhile Royal family which has since been handed over to the Government of India and has been turned into a Museum. It is a must visit place for anyone coming to Agartala which in itself is a very clean and beautifully maintained city. The area of the Palace is large with temples on both sides and very well maintained garden all around.
