There are two prominent lingas inside the temple. The linga made of sand called Ramalinga and the Viswalingam, believed to have been installed by Lord Rama. The temple was expanded during the reigning period of the Pandya dynasty rulers and is a holy sight for the Vaishnavas and Shiva worshippers. Lord Shiva is the presiding deity of the temple with the temple having the proud name of having the longest corridor in India. It is one of the holies Char Dam attracting pilgrims from all over India.
