One of the most popular tourist spots in Shillong, these falls get their name from an elephant-shaped rock adjacent to them.

Umiam Lake is a beautiful lake that sees numerous tourists from all over the country. Also known as Big Water or Barapani, this lake is an ideal place to experience the natural splendour of Shillong. Located within the Shillong Cantonment, on the outskirts of the city, lies a sparkling waterfall which looks like an eagle with wings spread. Also known as Pollock’s Lake, this artificial water body is encircled by an extensive lush garden and lies in the middle of the city. The serene horse-shoe shaped lake is frequented by tourists, honeymooners and picnickers. Wards Lake offers numerous recreational activities such as boating, walks along with cobble-stoned paths and fountain dancing. Wooden bridge at the middle of the lake is the highlight of the water body. Either side of the lake has lotus flowers over a wide stretch.
