Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary in Wayanad, Kerala, south India. It is between Mysore and Sultan Battery. A variety of large wild animals such as Indian bison, elephant, deer and tiger are found there. Wayanad climate is salubrious. Average rainfall in this district is 2322 m.m. Annual rainfall in these high rainfall areas ranges from 3,000 to 4,000 mm. High-velocity winds are common during the south-west monsoon and dry winds blow in March–April. High altitude regions experience severe cold.

WWS falls under Nilgiri biosphere reserve comprising 3 sanctuaries in Karnataka (Nagarhole and bandipur Tiger reserve ) and Tamil Nadu (Muthumalai national park ) . WWS is the only place with availability of water and food in large scale in the Nilgiri biosphere . During the summer period thousands of wild animals from the adjacent sanctuaries migrate enmasse to WWS in search of water . ”

                        ” Its better to visit a zoo instead of this. We had a 2 hours of jumpy journey with my DSLR and lens kits in a safari. All we found was Deers, A peacock and monkeys. It was a real waste of time. Don’t plan to this place unless you haven’t seen any Deers till now.”

It requires a small 2km trek to reach this waterfall. The trek through the moist deciduous forest, this hard trek is all worth when you reach the spot. The best time to visit Meenmutty is from October to May. Tip: Avoid monsoon season to visit this waterfall.
