A Critical Review: I previously had a pair of Ultra 109’s that served their purpose but were only ok – not water proof and not very durable. The inside liner in the heels started wearing out very soon after I got them and they got small tears at the flex points in the front. They were 11 1/2’s (my normal size) but they were a little bit tight. I don’t usually have trouble with shoes fitting and as I don’t wear them very often it wasn’t that big a deal. I said I would not have another pair of North Face – but guess what, I do. I tried a pair of Merrills but had to return them because the fit was just not right for my foot. This time, I bought both an 11 1/2 and a 12 in the Ultra 111 to see which one was better. I wish I could say one of them was perfect but I must be in between because the 11 1/2 was slight short again and the 12 is just a little large. Either would have been vastly better than the Merrills so I am keeping the 12’s. I have worn them a few times to break them in and so far I like them. Too early to tell whether theses will wear any better than the 109’s did (not betting on it) so I am keeping the review at 3 stars.

I had previously NF shoes before, about 5-6 years ago and those fit perfect as well so I bought 2 pair and wore them till they were completely worn out. Once I put these on I knew immediately they were a winner, nice and light, fit is spot-on. After 1 week I bought another pair so I am good for another 5 years.
A Critical Review: Not any arch support in these shoes. I am going to have to put an insert in them because they are not comfortable at all. Won’t buy these again given they are over 100 bucks and I still have to put inserts in them to be comfortable.

This new model (hedgehog) of the Fastpack II no longer use Gore-tex for their waterproof membrane, but I’m sure they will keep my feet as dry as they have in the past.
A Critical Review: I use these for coaching cross country and occasionally while hiking. I noticed today while apple picking, the toes are ripping along the seam.

A 5-Star Review: Have only had them a bit over 2 weeks, but they stood up to a number of very wet days in Alaska. Very comfortable, waterproof (for about 15 miles in moderate to heavy rain), great traction, and true to size. Hopefully they continue to function as they have so far.
A Critical Review: Had to put arch support insoles immediately – very disappointed considering I’ve had multiple pairs of other northface hikers till this day. Aside from this they are very comfortable and durable.

update.. the shoes failed.. first day of wearing them hurt my foot so bad.. I had to stay off it all day, have my mom bring my old shoes to work.. and now have to use crutches the next day .. not an awesome show as I thought.. and I should expect it for lower price.. oh well.. back to the drawing board

A Critical Review: These shoes look good on pictures only! When I got them I was very disappointed! They are not that cute and super old lady looking. Not worth it at all. Also, when I tried to return them I was unable too… this is unfortunate since if I was to buy them at the store I would have at least 90 days to return a pair of new shoes. They were not cheap, but they do not live up to the hype. Very discontent with Amazon and this seller since I can’t even get a hold of them, the “virtual assistant” continues to send me the return policy. Very unhappy about this purchase!
