Chopta Chandrashila Deoriatal is a window into Himalaya’s spring color vibrancy. A well-loved trek for mountain goers of all kinds, this trek flourishes with blossoms, especially rhododendrons red and pink, in summer time while winters are a hazy shade with enough scopes to have a ball in spilling snow.
Itinerary / Tour Plan
Day 1: Drive Haridwar-Sari then trek to Deoriatal
Distance:Â 220 kms + 3 kms trek.
Time Taken: 7 hrs to drive 2 hrs to trek
Altitude:Â 6,554 ft. and 8,000 ft.
Welcome to the scenic trail of Deoriatal! We are to meet at Haridwar from where we leave for Sari. The journey is 220 kms long and shall be covered in 7 hours. The way is full of snake-like turns and zig zag ascends so it is advisable to carry motion sickness solutions along. Follow the road as it takes you underneath the huge Himalayas and over their vast valleys. All throughout the way, you shall be surrounded by mountain vegetation of Pine and Oak trees. On reaching the humble town of Sari, you can find a local market from where you can shop for your daily needs that you could have missed out while packing. We then trek to the Lake of the Deoriatal which is famous for its crystal clear reflection of the surrounding peaks. Hot dinner will be served after a lengthy day’s work. We stay the night here in tents.

Day 2: Deoriatal to Chopta
Distance: 13- 14 kms
Altitude: 9,850 ft (3000 mtrs)
Time Taken: 7 hrs
The following day takes you through the vast green meadows of Rohini Bugyal to the lofty village of Chopta. All throughout the way, you shall be surrounded by the beauty of astounding vegetation. See if you can spot our State Bird of Uttarakhand, The Monal. The trek is relatively easy with well-defined trails and pathways; however, the length and the time taken may drain you out. Make sure you carry enough water and keep rehydrating yourself all throughout. We stay the night in tents or guest houses.

Day 3: Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila peak to Chopta
Altitude: Tungnath: 12,070 ft
 Chandrashila: 13, 550 ft.
Distance: 8 kms
Time Taken: 6 hrs.
Good morning! Brace for the final ascent. Feast on some wholesome breakfast and make sure you have hydrated yourself enough for the journey. Carry ample amount of water and remember to be hydrated throughout. We are to begin the arduous ascend to Tungnath followed by a steep climb to Chandrashila. The scenery by now is otherworldly. One gets to see snow clad peaks in full glory. All around you the Sentinel Mountains and peaks of Himalayas, with the likes of Nanda Devi and Chaukambha project their deep meditation. It is the perfect ambience to lose you and reflect upon the questions of life. We stop for a quick visit at the Tungnath temple, the highest of the ‘Naths’ or Nath temples. This is followed by a summit of the Chandrashila Peak and back. We stay the night at Chopta in tents or in guest houses.

Day 4: Chopta to Haridwar
Distance: 200 kms
Time: 6-7 hrs
Congratulations! You have made it. We bid you farewell and all the best for your future endeavours as we take you back to Haridwar in vehicles, from where you can depart on further journeys or stay the night.

Dehradun – Rishikesh – Srinagar – Rudraprayag -Rudraprayag -route to Kedarnath –
Ukhimath. shari- Devariyata- Chopta is situated 29 km from Ukhimath- to trek

About the place
It is the gateway to the four pilgrimages of Uttarakhand – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamnotri. It is also one of the four venues for the Kumbh Mela, held in its magnitude every 12 years. Every and each Temple of Haridwar tells of a definite Mythological saga.
