When and Why to take this tour
The Kedarkantha trek is known for being one of the easy treks of the country which can be attended by people who are in experienced trekkers and have no knowledge of prior trekking. However physical fitness is required where one should be able to jog at least for 4 kms in 30 minutes before committing for the trekking tour.
Tour Details
The journey for the beautiful Kedarkantha peak commences from the city of Dehradun. From Dehradun it’s a long drive to Sankri located at an altitude of 6400 feet and takes about 10 hours to reach. It’s a distance of 220 km from Dehradun.
Itinerary / Tour Plan
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri
Drive: 197 kms (8-10 hrs)
Altitude: 6,455 ft.
Our journey starts from Dehradun early in the morning for Sankri.
Our meeting point at Dehradun is the Railway Station. The beautiful
village of Sankri is about 200 kms from Dehradun in the Uttarkashi
District. The place sits at an altitude of 1950 mts abve the sea level,
in the lap of scenic misty mountains. Reach, relax and acclimatise.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talaab
Altitude: 9100 ft.
Distance: 4 km
Time Taken: 5 hours
Difficulty: Easy terrain
We start our journey from Sor. Munch on some healthy breakfast,
have some tea and start on the trail through dense pine forest. You
will also encounter the rare sight of maple forests. They are found
only in these regions in India. Fauna includes boars, martens, languor
and hares. The landscape then opens out to lovely lush meadows.
We stay the night in the tents at Juda ka Talaab.

Day 3: Juda Ka Talaab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
Altitude: 11,250 ft.

Time Taken: 2.5 hrs
Distance: 4 km
We wake to an amazing trek ahead of us. We walk over ridges today
that shall give into brilliant meadows. The walk shows the stunning
peaks such as Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana
among countless others. Reach the camp site at the Kedarkantha
base camp.

Day 4: Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha peak; descend to Hargaon
camp
Altitude: 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet to 8,900 feet.
Distance: 6 kms trek
Time taken: approx 7 hours.
The D day is here. Head out into the snow. Make sure you have fed
and hydrated yourself well. Warm water, tea, soup and a soupy Dal
are ideal for the purpose of hydration and that’s why you’ll be fed
the above mentioned. Spend some time at the summit and descend
back to the base camp by noon for lunch. We descend down to
Hargaon after lunch. Reach Hargaon by the evening. We spend the
night in tents.

Day 5: Hargaon camp to Sankri
Altitude: 8,900 feet to 6,400 feet.
Distance: 6 kms trek
Time taken: Approx 4 hours.
Trail: Easy. Descend 2500 feet through dense pine forests.

Day 6: Departure day (Sankri to Dehradun)
Distance: 220 km drive, approx 10 hours.
Trail: You will be dropped at Dehradun station in a Ford Trax,
Chevrolet Tavera, Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle.

Note: On Day 6, you’ll reach Dehradun between 6 pm and 7 pm. You
can book your travel any time after 8 pm.
