When and Why to take this tour
Are you looking for a winter adventure? Then Bijli Mahadev trek is made for you. It is a temple dedicated to lord Shiva. At an elevation of 8000 feet.
This temple is unique because the ‘Shiva-Lingam’ in the temple is occasionally struck by lightning and it shatters into pieces. The acting priest then uses butter as an adhesive to put the lingam together. The temple is named after this natural phenomena, where”Bijli” refers to lightning and “Mahadev” is one of the names for lord Shiva.
The trek to Bijli Mahadev temple is an easy 3 kilometre climb from Chansari Village.
Itinerary / Tour Plan
@7pm – Departure from New Delhi, we will know each other and join in the fun of introducing each other.
@8am – Upon the arrival at Kullu, we will have an hour to be ready for breakfast and leave for Chansari village. That is the base camp for our trek. We will start trekking through the dense forests. The initial climb is stiff, but the trail eases into a gentle climb after the first kilometre. During winters, the wooded section may be slippery with black ice, thus descend carefully. A small shrine in the woods marks the halfway point of this trek.
The trail emerges from the woods at the ridge line below the temple. The temple is at the top of this ridge.
@4pm – We will explore the intrinsic beauty and panoramic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. The 60 feet high staff of Bijli Mahadev temple glistens like a silver needle in the sun.
@6pm – Enjoying the mountain evening with settling sun and dim light in the sky. We will have the snacks, followed by nutritious and mountain cooked dinner. At night we will enjoy the bonfire(if possible) with the music and star gazing experiences to make these memories long lasting.
@5am – Getting up early morning is good for health and for the views of the valleys. We will have a Yoga session, to make you feel the fresh mountain air. We will have breakfast and visit to Bijli Mahadev temple.
