Plus, the Vibram MegaGrip outsole provides great traction and stability on all types of surfaces. If you have wider feet, these may not be the best option for you as they tend to run narrow.

A 5-Star Review: Saw these recommend on a websites “top 10 hiking boots”. I have a pair of La Sportivas boots that are 10 years old and still kicking. I’m a fan of the brand and their quality. I have some reservations about their newer products though as a different pair of boots that I bought had one of the lace hooks break off after one week.
These specific boots are my favorite so far I’ve worn them for about 30 miles, so they are still pretty new. I love they way they look and feel. Unlike most boots I’ve had the gortex on these is smooth which makes cleaning them soooo much easier. Almost 0 break in period. Never given me blisters. I’ve worn them backpacking for days at a time and they are genuinely one of the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend. That being said my only complaint is a personal preference they come up higher on the ankle than I like. But I prefer hiking or trail running shoes to boots. These sir about 2 inches higher than my other ankle boots. So about 4 inches above my ankle. Give good support if you need it though

A Critical Review: These are a light weight hiking boot with okay cushioning and arch support. I’m 5’8” and an athletic 140-145 pounds. We hike 8-15 miles a day on trips and I bought these based on a number of high ratings by organizations. I normally wear an 8.5 in other Sportiva shoes and have always found the brand to have a nice comfy (wide) toe box and plenty of room elsewhere (I’m a medium width). The 8.5M felt like an 8N on, too short and too narrow. The 9M feels like an 8.5N. I’m keeping the 9’s but these are not a boot I will be buying again. I like Sportiva, so maybe a different style, just not this one.

A 5-Star Review: I purchased these on Jun 20, 2021 and have beat the piss out of them since then, therefore I feel qualified to write this review.
I did the Ouray via ferrata three times, the Telluride ferrata once, and went on numerous hikes, walks, and even mountain biked with them. One of the hikes was a particularly sketchy one with very loose gravel at a high incline. I hiked all around alta lakes with them as well. I actually did some, lets say mandatory rock sliding with them and came out unscathed.
The verdict is that these shoes go way, WAY above and beyond what they were meant to do. I’ll be taking them to both ferrata’s again this year. They are incredibly comfortable for someone who has size 13 feet, but they are more robust than comfortable. What I mean by this is that if you spend 8+ hours in them, your feet will be a little bit sore. But this is because they’re doing what they’re supposed to; staying SOLID and keeping your feet where they need to be when it matters, especially when doing a ferrata. Highly recommend, I would buy these again and again until I’m too old to walk.
A Critical Review: These shoes fit great. I mean absolutely great, perfect fit. They offer incredible protection and are beautifully comfortable. I put 50 miles in 3 days on these. They were warm and toasty at 30 degrees with wool socks. My real issue with these is their ability to climb. The vibram megagrip (climbing zone) is good but not great. Climbed a class 3, 4, and some easier class 5 pitches in these. They had the room for toe pressure and worked well for friction foot holds. However, these suck for smearing. There was a few instances where my foot slipped (not fun when you’re 13k in the air free climbing and scrambling). I’ll probably take actual rock climbing shoes for my next trip. Overall they’re great but my mountaineering boots perform better in all aspects of climbing. As scrambling/easier class 5 climbing shoes they’re a solid 4 out of 5. As hiking and approach shoes (no difficult scrambling etc..) they’re a solid 6 out of 5.
Edit: After using them a few more times the laces have started to show signs of serious wear. I’ll probably replace them soon since they’re about to rip. I’ve never had this issue with any other approach, trail running, or mountaineering shoe/boot. Kinda lame considering they’re so expensive. Downgrading them to 3 stars instead of the prior 4 because of lacing issue.

A 5-Star Review: This boot lasted me two seasons of firefighting, only problem was that they can de-laminate easily. Boots worked fine for me but I watched a co-worker wearing these boots step into a hot spot in order to cut a tree and his boots pretty much fell apart.
A Critical Review: Works fine for a lineman boot. Seemed to have enough support for climbing. I was hoping it would last longer but I still only got about 6-9 months out of them before making my feet sore.

A 5-Star Review: I bought these to wear while walking the Camino de Santiago on the French route. I trained in them for several weeks before hand. They are light, water proof and incredibly stable, which I love. I really need the stability, as I tend to easily and randomly roll and ankle. The only reason I am giving them a 4/5 is they ran narrow through the toe box. I adjusted the laces back one hole from the toe which worked great as long as I was on flat surface, (which is basically all we have to train on) but on rocky and steep terrain I found that I wished I had something wider through the front part of the shoe. I wear an 8M in a Brooks running shoe and I ordered these shoes in a 7.5 and 8 and ended up keeping the 7.5. The 8 was definitely to long.
A Critical Review: So I love LA Sportiva Raptor shoes for hiking and I wanted a waterproof pair, so I ordered these. They are bit narrow for my feet and one of my ankles was a bit bothered on the outside. They looked great and I’m sure if they fit they would be tremendous but alas not for these feet.
