A 5-Star Review: For everyone thinking M is for men’s and W is for women’s…. its not! It’s for the width of the shoe. N-narrow, M-medium, W-width.

My shoe size is 8.5 and I got the medium width. I should have gone with a wide width. It’s really tight up in there, feels like my foot is gonna go numb. For reference the width of my foot is 4 inches.
I’ll be going hiking in them in about a week. I’ll update then.
UPDATE! I was so wrong! Went hiking and they didn’t hurt my feet at all. I didn’t get any blisters and my feet were never sore. Mind blowing.

A Critical Review: I had to give these boots 3 stars because even though they felt amazing on the feet…hardly any break-in time at all. But at the same time, the soles are slick. I wore them around town a few days to break them in before our big trip to Grand Canyon this summer, however in 2 businesses, plus my own home, even on floors that are not wet, I nearly fell or had to walk very cautiously because my feet were slick. They felt like my worn out pair of croc flops when I walk in the rain. I feel they are dangerous if you plan to hike anywhere that water might be present on slick surfaces. Its a shame because they are SO comfortable and lightweight. I just wish the soles were thicker and not slick.

Timberland Hiking Boots Women # 2) Timberland Women’s Ellendale Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Women: Timberland Women's Ellendale Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: Timberland Women’s Ellendale Hiking Boot is the perfect footwear for your next outdoor adventure. These stylish and comfortable boots feature a waterproof leather and mesh upper, padded collar, and EVA footbed for all-day support. The rubber outsole provides traction and stability on any terrain, making this boot ideal for hiking, camping, or just a casual walk in the park.

A 5-Star Review: The Timberland boots are terrific. I bought them for an upcoming trip and have been wearing them to break them in. I live on a hill and have lots of slope and these boots wear very well. Good traction and comfortable. They will be perfect for my trip and on our ranch. Very happy!

A Critical Review: My normal size was way too narrow in the toe area(8 1/2), and I have very narrow feet to start with. Wide width is not available, so had to go with a half size larger. Too big, and the provided insole is extremely unsupportive. Added orthotic insoles, and the boot is 1/2 size bigger than the insole of the same size. These boots just seem off in the sizing as many other reviews stated.

Timberland Hiking Boots Women # 3) Timberland Women’s Mt Maddsen Mid Leather Waterproof Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Women: Timberland Women’s Mt Maddsen Mid Leather Waterproof Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: If you’re looking for a women’s hiking boot that can take on any terrain, the Timberland Mt. Maddsen is your perfect choice. It features a waterproof leather upper to keep your feet dry in any weather, and a cushioned EVA midsole provides all-day comfort. The Vibram outsole ensures traction and stability on any surface.

A 5-Star Review: I wear a size 7 in New Balance, 7.5 in Saucony, and sometimes an 8 in various boots. I have horrible feet and must use orthotic inserts. Hiking boots should be a snug fit, as to not allow your foot to slide around inside, so I went with the 7.5. Perfect fit, cute and affordable! I also have very weak ankles- these fell as though they are going to keep me well supported. The bottom sole tread is great also. I have 3 more weeks until my trip, and bought them early to be able to break them in, but there really isn’t any need! I will wear them anyway, just to be sure. Until I decide to fork over pair of Scarpa’s, i believe the are going to do great for my 3 weeks on Maui. I will update after my trip how well they do. Straight ot of the box though, I LOVE them!

A Critical Review: I have “sensitive” feet: lots of shoes (including high end ones) give me blisters. I’ve been in Keen hikers for the last decade but they have been discontinued and…wait for it…the replacement model gives me blisters. But my trusty Keens are WORN OUT. I bought these as a replacement. They are lightweight which is what I wanted. The foot bed is comfortable and I have not yet felt the need to replace the pads. I wear toe rings on both feet and, the first time out, the left shoe pressed my toes together, making that toe ring uncomfortable. The second time out, they had stretched enough I did not notice it. The first time out I got a couple of mild hotspots on my heels but no blisters. The second time out, I got hot spots on both heels, the little toe on my right foot, and across the tops of the middle toes on my left foot. (Same route both times.)

At this point, I’ve put about ten miles on them. Each time I walk (moderate, flat terrain) they change a bit as they break in. I’m still taping my feet but I’m hoping that they will conform to my foot and become truly comfortable. There’s a lot to like: they don’t crease and press my toes when I bend my foot – they did when I very first put them on but that went away almost immediately. The foot bed is comfortable. The sole is grippy even on wet surfaces. But I do think they’re narrow even when they stretch a bit. If you have wide feet these are a hard NO. I also agree with other comments that the laces are crap – I’ll replace at some point. Some people may definitely want to put in shoe pads and I may well in the future.

If anything changes I’ll update my review.

Update: about 50 miles in. The heels and foot bed have broken in and are comfy. But these shoes give me blisters across my toes. I have to tape both little toes and the middle toe on my left foot. These are NOT a hiking solution for me. They’re okay for short walks but I need something for all day. I’m lowering my stars as a result of a few months with these shoes.

A 5-Star Review: I love how they didn’t take long to break into hiked 5 miles in them first day

Timberland Hiking Boots Women # 5) Timberland Women’s Skyla Bay 6-inch Hiking Boot

Timberland Hiking Boots Women: Timberland Women's Skyla Bay 6-inch Hiking Boot by Store Timberland Store

Product Summary: The Timberland Women‘s Skyla Bay 6inch Hiking Boot is a boot that is designed for the woman who loves spending time outdoors. The boot is also waterproof, so you can rest assured that your feet will stay dry even if you cross a stream or puddle. The boot is also breathable, so your feet will not overheat even if you are hiking in warm weather.

A 5-Star Review: I like it

A Critical Review: I ordered my usual size, and there’s literally no room in the heel of the shoe at all. My foot goes in easy, as usual, but it’s like my heel is glued to the back of the shoe. It’s such a bizarre issue, but they’re unwearable for me.

Timberland Hiking Boots Women # 6) Timberland Women’s Kinsley 6-inch Waterproof Hiking Boot

Women's Kinsley 6-inch Waterproof Hiking Boot

Product Summary: This boot is designed to fit a woman’s foot and features a feminine silhouette, which makes it fully waterproof and lined with ReBOTL containing at least 50% recycled plastic.

A 5-Star Review: These boots are as comfortable as advertised. I was concerned that the height in the heel would hinder hiking movement but it does NOT. Love these boots.

A Critical Review: I almost always wear a perfect size 9.5. Often I have to wear a 10 if a shoe doesn’t come in half sizes. Purchased a 9.5 in this Timberland boot after a lot of research, and it was a full-size, possibly size and a half larger than normal. This photo shows a very similar boot that I have in a size 10 up against the 9.5 Timberland. You can see that it’s a solid half to full size larger than the 10. They are also quite stiff, although I’m sure they would’ve broken in eventually.

In the end I returned these and found a different darker brown color of this shoe elsewhere in a size 8.5, a size I’ve never worn in my life. Admittedly, I did have to use my shoe stretcher for a couple days on the 8.5, but now they’re fine. Point is, size down.
