The Gaganachukki waterfalls are best viewed from the watch tower at Shivanasamudra. The twin waterfalls have an average height of 98 metres and can be approached from two sides. Reaching the bottom of the waterfall from the watch tower side is not possible as the area is fenced and no one is allowed to go near the water.

                        “Beautiful scenery, excellent big falls! Safe place to view from afar, but highly risky to go near, especially going on the coracle rides. The falls is the biggest one on the River Cauvery. Though it’s very nice to view during rainy season, water flows all year round, because of the Cauvery Water Tribunal’s order to release water to the State of Tamil Nadu. Some of my best group photos even 30 years ago were taken here, with the water falls as background. Those times we could go down to Asia’s first power generating station on a steep rope-way like train pulley car. Penstocks of the nearby generating stations, canals, neat roads were all great attractions. The road leading to the falls itself has a rural setting, fresh air, and isolated. Enjoy in groups, or in pairs. Never travel alone. It used to be a full day program, visiting all the nearby places. The place remains almost similar, but restrictions are in place to visit the power stations due to security concerns. There is no way we can play in the waters. Try once, and you might permanently end up in the Bay of Bengal..! ”
